Hammerheads close out series vs. Mets with loss

In the third and final game against the St. Lucie Mets on Wednesday night, Jupiter fell 5-1 behind a short start from Jupiter ace Edward Cabrera.
The typically dominating Cabrera, who struck out thirteen in last week's 1-0 win, left the game after just two innings with a fingernail issue. His finished with a line of 2 IP, 1H, 0 R, 2 BB, 2 K. After this brief stent on the mound, the 21-year-old has now pitched 23 2/3 consecutive scoreless innings.
Jose Devers continues to perform at the plate, going 2-4 tonight. Second baseman Riley Mahan also went 2-4, which included a double in the bottom of the seventh that Isael Soto batted in for the only Hammerhead run.
The Jupiter offense continued to struggle building momentum at the plate and on the bases. As is becoming a pattern, singles and isolated hits kept them from tallying the runs necessary to win.
With Cabrera's short start, reliever Daniel Castano ended up pitching five innings to fill out the game on the mound, his longest outing of the season. Over those five innings he allowed five hits and four runs, two unearned, and struck out five total.
Alejandro Mateo wrapped up the game, pitching two innings as the closer. Mateo struck out three and consistently hit 95 mph, but the Mets still got one run and three hits on the Florida native.
