The Jupiter Hammerheads kick off the six-game series against the St. Lucie Mets with a 4-1 win on Tuesday night at Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium.

After winning their last two games on the road in Ft. Myers, the Hammerheads earnt ehi9r third straight win behind a strong performance from starter Luis Palacios. The southpaw earned his first win of the season after six innings of one-run baseball. The Venezuelan native struck out seven and didn’t allow a walk.

The Hammerheads bullpen would go on to pitch the final three innings without allowing a run. First up was Josh Roberson, who is on a Minor League rehab assignment. The righty struck out four batters in 1.2 innings. Edison Suriel would come on to close out the game and pick up his first save of the season. The 23-year-old didn’t allow a hit and struck out two batters.

Offensively, the Hammerheads scored in the first inning courtesy of a Brady Allen RBI single. The South Carolina Gamecock alum would finish the game 3-3 with 2 RBI and a run scored.

The Mets scored their lone run of the game on a Carlos Dominguez home run in the third inning.

In the bottom of the fifth, the Hammerheads would tack on two more runs. Kahlil Watson drove in a run after a single with the bases loaded. A few batters later, Allen would be walked with the bases full to score Jan Mercado. In the fifth, Mercado would also be walked with the bases loaded, however, this time scoring Allen.

The Hammerheads and Mets will square off in Game Two of the series tomorrow evening at Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium. The first pitch is scheduled for 6:30 pm and tickets are available HERE.
