Indians Redband Rally in 8th to Beat AquaSox

SPOKANE, Wash. - In a wild night full of controversy, ejections, and late inning thrills, the Spokane Indians got a two-run double from Cristian Inoa in the bottom of the eighth to outlast the Everett AquaSox, 6-4, in game one of their three-game series on Family Feast Night presented by 92.9 ZZU.

TOP PERFORMERS

• Kenan Irizarry was 2-for-3 with a walk. His RBI double in the fourth cut Everett's lead to 4-2 and began the Indians comeback.
• Jonah McReynolds hit his sixth homer of the season in the fifth inning to get Spokane within a run.
• Cristian Inoa's sacrifice fly tied the game at four in the sixth. His two-run double in the eighth would give Spokane the lead and the victory. His three RBI in the win are a season-high and the most since he had a six RBI night on July 2, 2017.

BY THE NUMBERS

• Werner Leal pitched 3.1 scoreless innings from the bullpen. Leal has 55 strikeouts in 45.1 innings this season and lowered his ERA to a miniscule 0.60.
• Inoa extended his hitting streak to a season-high six games. He is hitting .381 since his game-tying homer in the ninth inning against Eugene on August 19.
• Spokane improves to 8-5 against the AquaSox this season.

KEY MOMENTS
There were plenty of moments in this one, but let's start in the bottom of the eighth. With the bases loaded and two outs in a 4-4 game, Cristian Inoa grounded a ball to third base. Everett third baseman Connor Hoover booted the ball off his glove and contended that Indians runner David Garcia interfered with his ability to make the play. The ball trickled into center field to allow Garcia to score the second run and give Spokane a 6-4 lead. Everett manager Louis Boyd was ejected for arguing the non-interference call. In the top of the ninth, Everett loaded the bases with no outs. Spokane turned to Joe Corbett out of the bullpen. Corbett struck out Hoover and Robert Perez and then got Carter Bins to fly out just shy of the warning track to end the game and pick up his third save of the season.
AROUND THE LEAGUE
Vancouver scored two in the bottom of the ninth to walk-off Tri-City. With the loss, the Dust Devils fall to two games behind Spokane in the second half. However, they do remain two games ahead of Everett with five games left in the regular season. If Spokane wins the second half, the playoff berth will go to the team with the better second half winning percentage.
