IronBirds Top BlueClaws 8-2 on Friday in ShoreTown

JERSEY SHORE, NJ - Aberdeen scored five times in the second inning while Isaac De Leon and Luis Valez had three hits apiece and the IronBirds topped the BlueClaws 8-2 on Friday night at ShoreTown Ballpark.

The teams have now split the first four games of their series with the season's final two games set for the weekend.

Aberdeen opened the scoring in the first on an RBI single by TT Bowens. They scored five times in the second inning to blow open the game. Adam Retzbach's RBI triple made it 2-0 and they added runs on RBI his by Isaac De Leon, Donta Williams, and Dylan Bowers.

Jersey Shore starter Jordi Martinez (0-1) came out after 1.1 innings, allowing six runs/two earned.

Kendall Simmons homered for Jersey Shore in the bottom of the fourth. It was his third home run since joining the BlueClaws in August, and first hit at ShoreTown Ballpark.

Donta Williams added a solo home run off Carlos Francisco in the eighth.

Jordan Fowler threw two scoreless innings for Jersey Shore in his BlueClaws debut while Tristan Garnett threw two scoreless innings in his third game with the team and first at ShoreTown Ballpark.

Houston Roth (10-5) earned the win for Aberdeen with two innings of scoreless relief.

The teams continue their series on Saturday in the penultimate game of the season, a 7:05 start at ShoreTown Ballpark.
