(RNO) TBD vs. (SUG) RHP Ronel Blanco (4-3, 4.75 ERA)
Sugar Land, TX – Jake McCarthy and the Reno Aces (27-22, 71-53) quickly extinguished the Sugar Land Space Cowboys (15-34, 48-76) in an 8-2 victory Friday night at Constellation Field.
Reno put Sugar Land in an impossible situation right from the jump. With nobody out in the top of the first, the Aces loaded the bases for Kyle Lewis, who had already homered twice in the series and entered the game ranked second in Minor League Baseball in OPS (min. 200 PA). Lewis cranked a double down the left field line to clear the bases and spark the lineup for the third straight night… because of course.
Lewis led off the third with a single before Emmanuel Rivera touched neptune with a two run tank to left. Rivera, one of the best hitters in Triple-A and especially against left-handed pitching, made another southpaw pay to break open a 5-0 lead. Later in the frame, McCarthy slapped in Diego Castillo to make it 6-0. With the bases juiced again in the fourth, Blaze Alexander beat out an infield single to third to give the BLC Nine a 7-0 advantage.
Emmanuel Rivera, and we cannot stress this enough, 𝓬𝓻𝓾𝓼𝓱𝓮𝓭 that ball 💣

The first seven in Reno’s order each got on base at least twice. McCarthy went 4-for-4 with two free passes out of the leadoff spot while Pavin Smith reached four times from the three hole, including an RBI double in the seventh. Jordan Lawlar posted his second multi-hit game since the promotion and Lewis and Rivera tallied two knocks each. Reno’s lineup deposited 13 hits and drew an additional eight walks in their third straight win. The Aces and Space Cowboys continue their six-game series Saturday night at 5:05 p.m. PT from Constellation Field.
