(UPTOWN CHARLOTTE, NC) -- The Charlotte Knights used a four-run seventh inning to charge past the Durham Bulls on Saturday night in a 5-2 win in game five of the six-game series from Truist Field in Uptown Charlotte. The win was Charlotte’s second in the series against the Bulls.

Chicago White Sox outfielder Eloy Jiménez continued his major league rehab assignment and drove home a run in the seventh inning. His RBI single tied the game at 2-2.

One batter later, designated hitter Carlos Pérez kept the hit parade alive and singled home the go-ahead run to give the Knights a 3-2 lead.

With the Knights ahead of the Bulls by a score of 3-2, the inning continued thanks to a two-run single by third baseman Zach Remillard. The two-run single pushed Charlotte’s lead to 5-2, which ultimately was the final score of game five.

RHP Daniel Winkler (2-0, 5.68) tossed a scoreless seventh inning to earn his second win of the season. Winkler was one of Charlotte’s seven pitchers on the night. In the eighth, LHP Andrew Perez held the Bulls scoreless to give way for LHP Bennett Sousa, who fanned the side in the ninth to earn his first save of the season.

Charlotte center fielder Mark Payton launched his 11th home run of the season in the bottom of the fifth inning, which put the Knights on the scoreboard for the first time. Payton finished the game 2-for-4 with the home run and two runs scored. His 11 home runs are tied for the team lead with Pérez.

The Knights will conclude the six-game home series against the Durham Bulls (Triple-A affiliate of the Tampa Bay Rays) from Truist Field in Uptown Charlotte on Sunday night with first pitch set for 6:05 p.m. The “Voice of the Charlotte Knights” Matt Swierad and long-time Knights broadcaster Mike Pacheco will have the call for all of the action on 730 The Game ESPN Charlotte and www.CharlotteKnights.com.
