(WORCESTER, MA) -- Designated hitter Mark Payton launched his ninth home run of the season, but the Charlotte Knights dropped game four of the six-game series to the Worcester Red Sox by a score of 10-2 on Friday night from Polar Park in Worcester, MA.

Payton hit the first pitch of the game over the right center field fence to give the Knights a 1-0 lead. The Charlotte outfielder, who started at designated hitter on Friday, went 1-for-4 with the home run.

The Knights added one more run along the way and did so in the top of the seventh inning on an RBI groundout by left fielder Zach Remillard. In all, the Knights combined to record a total of eight hits on Friday night. Second baseman Laz Rivera had three of the team’s eight hits.

Charlotte LHP Kyle Kubat (4-2, 5.98) started for the Knights and allowed five runs on seven hits over three innings. He also allowed two of Worcester’s four home runs on the night and was charged with the loss.

Worcester left fielder Christin Stewart led the offense against the Knights with a two-homer game. Stewart hit his first homer in the third inning off of Kubat, a solo blast. He later added a two-run home run in the seventh inning off LHP Zach Muckenhirn. WooSox designated hitter Connor Wong (solo) and Ryan Fitzgerald (three-run) also hit home runs on Friday night.
