Late Rally Stuns Thunder As 'Cats Triumph

TRENTON, NJ - The New Hampshire Fisher Cats (Blue Jays) scored seven unanswered runs between the eighth and the ninth for a come-from-behind 7-2 victory over the Trenton Thunder (Yankees) Tuesday night at ARM & HAMMER Park.

Trailing 2-0, New Hampshire began its comeback in the top of the eighth. Vinny Capra drew a lead-off walk and stole second before back-to-back strikeouts brought Brock Lundquist to the plate. Lundquist hit a two-strike pitch through the hole on the right side to score Capra and make it 2-1 Thunder. Nash Knight followed with an RBI double down the line in right field to tie the game before Christian Williams' triple scored Knight to give the Fisher Cats a 3-2 advantage.
A Cullen Large triple with the bases loaded in the ninth scored three and the 'Cats added another on a Lundquist sacrifice fly to go up 7-2 before Trenton's final at-bat.
Trenton broke up New Hampshire's 18.1 scoreless innings streak with a run in the bottom of the fifth. Ben Wagner singled then Isiah Gilliam doubled to eventually set up a RBI sacrifice fly from North Andover, MA native Max Burt, which made it 1-0 Thunder.
The Yankees affiliate added a run in the sixth on a lead-off single by Kyle Holder and an RBI double to dead centerfield off the bat of Chris Gittens.
Notable:

• The Fisher Cats pitching staff has allowed a total of ten runs in the last nine games
• Cullen Large went 2-for-4 with a single in the third inning to extend his hit streak to nine games.
• New Hampshire leads the season series with Trenton 9-6.

The Fisher Cats and Thunder play one more time on Wednesday at ARM & HAMMER Park at 1:00 p.m. New Hampshire will start the final homestand of the season on Thursday at 7:05 p.m. when the Fisher Cats host Binghamton (Mets) at Delta Dental Stadium. It will be Margaritaville Night and an Atlas Fireworks Show will follow the game.
