JUPITER, Fla. — For the second straight night, Marauders bats were held two just two hits in Jupiter, and Carlos Jimenez struggled with control on the mound in a 5-0 loss to the Jupiter Hammerheads on Thursday night at Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium.

The loss was the third straight for the Marauders (15-15), who dropped to the .500 mark for the first time since opening weekend.

Jimenez (0-2) started strong for Bradenton, racking up five strikeouts in his first two innings. But in the third, the right-hander lost command, as two walks sandwiched around an infield single loaded the bases with one out for the Hammerheads (17-13). Jimenez recovered to strike out Kahlil Watson for the second out, but a five-pitch walk to Brady Allen forced home the game’s first run. Cristhian Rodriguez followed by hitting a bouncer back to Jimenez, who threw home in an attempt at a force out, but catcher Geovanny Planchart dropped the ball, giving Jupiter a 2-0 lead. Zach Zubia then worked a seven-pitch walk to force home a third run, and Jimenez was pulled. Reliever Cristian Charle hit Jorge Caballero with a pitch, pushing the score to 4-0, before getting an inning-ending lineout to right field.

Hammerheads starter Justin Fall (1-3), meanwhile, dominated Marauders bats, allowing just two baserunners via an error and a walk over his first five innings. The left-hander saw his no-hit bid end in the sixth, when Planchart led off with a single up the middle. Fall would end his evening after six innings, and relievers Edison Suriel and Chandler Jozwiak held Bradenton scoreless the rest of the way.

The Marauders managed just one more hit in the game—another Planchart single in the eighth—and placed a runner into scoring position just once on the evening, when Alexander Mojica and Sergio Campana drew back-to-back walks in the seventh. Both were left stranded.

After Jupiter’s three-run third inning, Bradenton’s bullpen turned in a respectable finish. Charle struck out five across three and one-third innings, allowing an unearned run in the fourth when Javeon Cody singled, stole second and took third base on an errant throw by Planchart, then scored on a groundout. Right-handers Dante Mendoza and Wilkin Ramos tossed one scoreless inning each behind Charle. The Marauders’ four pitchers on the night combined for 14 strikeouts.

The series continues Friday with first pitch scheduled for 6:30 p.m. at Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium. RHP Po-Yu Chen (0-1, 4.43 ERA) will start for the Marauders against RHP Chris Mokma (3-1, 3.90 ERA) for Jupiter.
