(EASTLAKE, OH) – The Picantes de Lake County (14-16) and Great Lakes Loons (17-14) played a back and forth contest, with both teams taking the lead three times. Lake County gained it last a 4-3 victory after an Angel Martinez walk off single to centerfield.

Gavin Williams took the hill for the Picantes and retired nine of the first 10 batters he faced. The right-hander allowed only one run over 5.2 innings, with five hits. The one run came off an RBI single in the fourth from Jorbit Vivas.

Lake County responded in the fourth, as Aaron Bracho delivered his first home run of the season deep into the left field bleachers. Connor Kokx followed Bracho and reached via an error by the shortstop. Mike Amditis then singled to left center, an ball booted in left, plated Kokx, to make it a 2-1 advantage.

In the top of the fifth and sixth inning, the Loons had two runners in scoring position but failed to score. In the fifth, Raynel Delgado robbed a base hit with a diving catch at third base and then Petey Halpin made a play on the warning track in right-center to end the inning. The sixth, saw back-to-back base hits, with one out, Williams tossed his sixth and final strikeout and then Randy Labaut finished the sixth with a four-pitch strikeout.

Great Lakes finally knotted it up during the eighth. Jonny DeLuca rocketed a ball just right of the foul pole. Lake County bounced back yet again, as Halpin walked, reached second on a wild pitch, moved to third on a groundout and sprinted across home following another wild pitch.

In the top of the ninth, Cade Smith entered. He allowed a leadoff walk but then struck out the next two. The next batter chopped a ball to Angel Martinez at short, an errant throw led to the tying run scoring.

Martinez would redeem himself in the bottom of the ninth ripping a single up the middle that brought Amditis home just before a strong throw to the plate from centerfield. Martinez has now had three game winning hits and two walk offs.
