Take a look back at 'Opening Day at Home'

Bisons fans celebrated Opening Day with the team on social media
April 18, 2020

There's nothing quite like the feeling of returning to Sahlen Field for Opening Day of a new season. And while the unprecedented events of the last few months have forced the ballpark's gates to remain closed, that didn't stop the Bisons and their great fans from celebrating the greatest holiday

There's nothing quite like the feeling of returning to Sahlen Field for Opening Day of a new season. And while the unprecedented events of the last few months have forced the ballpark's gates to remain closed, that didn't stop the Bisons and their great fans from celebrating the greatest holiday in all of sports.

Friday, April 17 was dubbed #OpeningDayatHome and the team and fans from Western New York and Southern Ontario came together on social media to share their favorite ballpark memories, get dressed up in their favorite Bisons gear, have a Sahlen's Hot Dog (or four) and just talk a little baseball. The Bisons streamed their 8-3 victory over the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders from their 2019 Opening Day on Facebook and passed along as many of the sights and sounds they could to help fans get into the Opening Day feel while remaining safe in their homes.

In case you missed #OpeningDayatHome, check out some of the highlights of the afternoon on social media.

It all started with an important message from the Bisons to the All-Stars in our communities.

I message from the one and only, Conehead!

A pre-game chat with new Bisons General Manager, Anthony Sprague, and the Voice of the Bisons, Pat Malacaro.

A few ballpark public address announcements from our guy, Tom Burns!

Also checking in on #OpeningDayatHome, new Bisons skipper Ken Huckaby, as well as infielder Andy Burns and catcher Patrick Cantwell!

The Ceremonial First Pitch for #OpeningDayatHome went to longtime Director of Stadium Operations, Tom Sciarrino. Friday was Tom's last day with the Bisons after 26 years with the team. No one knows more about the ballpark than Tom and through his dedication and commitment, Sahlen Field has remained the jewel that it is!

Then it was time for the game, which you can still watch on our Facebook Page. Or, check out the highlights below.

With the game (and the Herd) rolling, check out how Bisons fans celebrated #OpeningDayatHome!

And of course, and awesome day at the (virtual) Opening Day could not be complete without some fireworks!
