Tacoma, WA - Right-hander Nabil Crismatt tossed three scoreless innings, allowing only two hits out of the Tacoma bullpen and striking out five, but the Rainiers were unable to come back from an early two-run deficit as they were shutout by the Las Vegas Aviators on Friday, 3-0, in a contest that included 28 combined punchouts.
Crismatt took over on the mound in the fifth after Tacoma (58-71) starter Andrew Moore (0-4) was charged with two Las Vegas (78-52) runs across four innings and striking out five. Rainiers hurlers accounted for 13 of the 28 strikeouts.
Major League rehabber Dan Altavilla allowed one run in the eighth, striking out two and righty Matt Festa tossed a 1-2-3 ninth.

The Rainiers managed only three baserunners in the ballgame. Tacoma smacked two hits off Aviators starting pitcher and Oakland A's rehabber Sean Manaea (3-1), both of which went for extra bases. Jaycob Brugman collected a double for Tacoma's first hit in the bottom of the second, but was left stranded to end the inning. Eric Filia accounted for the Rainiers second and final hit in the bottom of the fourth with a double to left field.
The Rainiers will play for their first victory of the series against the Aviators on Saturday at Cheney Stadium. Tacoma will roll out right-hander Mike Wright (2-3, 5.03) to face Las Vegas righty Parker Dunshee (3-4, 5.23) for a 7:05 p.m. PDT start. Mike Curto will have full coverage on South Sound Talk 850 with audio streaming available on the Tacoma Rainiers TuneIn Radio Network.
