Dash Blank BlueClaws 6-0 in Tuesday Series Opener

WINSTON-SALEM, NC - Winston-Salem scored five times in the first two innings en route to a 6-0 win over the BlueClaws on Tuesday night at Truist Stadium.

WINSTON-SALEM, NC - Winston-Salem scored five times in the first two innings en route to a 6-0 win over the BlueClaws on Tuesday night at Truist Stadium.

The Dash (27-40) took the first of six from Jersey Shore (29-38) and the BlueClaws dropped to 3-4 on their current 12-game road trip.

Winston-Salem got off to a quick start, taking the lead on an Alex Destino RBI single in the first inning. They added two more in the opening frame on a two-run double by Luis Curbelo for a 3-0 lead.

Lenyn Sosa singled home a run in the second inning before a second run scored on a balk to give the Dash a 5-0 lead.

BlueClaws starter Jonathan Hughes (3-4) settled in from there, throwing three scoreless innings, but was charged with five runs over five frames. Andrew Brown gave up one unearned run in two innings of relief while Blake Brown threw a scoreless inning with two strikeouts.

Dash starter Bailey Horn threw three scoreless innings. He was followed by Declan Cronin (2-2), who threw two more scoreless frames. Wilbur Perez threw three shutout innings and Caleb Freeman threw a scoreless ninth. The four combined to hold the BlueClaws to two hits and Jersey Shore was shutout for the fourth time in their last eight games.

The teams continue their series on Wednesday night in North Carolina. The BlueClaws return home to welcome in Brooklyn for a six-game series beginning Tuesday night. Tickets are on sale now by clicking here.
