ROUND ROCK, Texas – The Round Rock Express are proud to partner with We Are Blood to host a blood donation drive inside the United Heritage Center at Dell Diamond from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 14. Appointments are required in order to give blood and are available at this link.

“The Round Rock Express are stepping up for Central Texas’s community blood supply during a time when blood transfusions are needed more than ever,” We Are Blood Vice President of Community Engagement Nick Canedo said. “We are grateful for every lifesaving donation made at our Dell Diamond hosted blood drive.”

We Are Blood is the exclusive supplier of blood donations for over 40 hospitals and clinics across 10 counties in Central Texas, including all St. David’s HealthCare locations. Blood donations are needed every summer as donations dip due to schools being out of session and individuals becoming busy with vacation and family commitments.

Community blood supply has been at critically low levels since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic due to less blood drives hosted in local communities. In years past, the Round Rock Express have partnered with Brown Distributing and We Are Blood to host a sold-out blood donation drive at Dell Diamond in May of 2020 and August of 2021.

The entire process takes about 45 minutes to one hour and the actual blood giving process takes just 15 to 35 minutes.

“Opening up Dell Diamond and partnering with We Are Blood to serve our community is always a meaningful day for us,” President Chris Almendarez said. “We understand the impact this event has on so many lives and we’re hoping for our biggest turnout yet. We’ve seen this community step up time and time again and we know they will show up in a big way for this event.”

Face coverings are optional, but recommended, when visiting We Are Blood donor centers, including the mobile drive at Dell Diamond. We Are Blood is a nonprofit blood center that has been serving Central Texas since 1951. For more information on We Are Blood, please visit WeAreBlood.org.
