BOWLING GREEN, Ky. - Ryan Gold and Ryan Noda homered, but the Bowling Green Hot Rods (36-24, 83-46) completed a three-game sweep of the Lansing Lugnuts (32-28, 75-55), 7-3, on Thursday night at Bowling Green Ballpark.

The Hot Rods won the regular season series against the Lugnuts, 8-5. The two teams will meet up in the first round of the Midwest League playoffs, with Game 1 of the best-of-three series set for Wednesday, September 5th.

Noda doubled and scored on an error by first baseman Devin Davis in the second inning, and then Gold blasted his second homer of the season in the fourth, giving the Lugnuts a 2-0 lead.

The Hot Rods quickly tied the score in the bottom of the fourth against Nuts starter Donnie Sellers on a Moises Gomez home run and Devin Davis RBI double.

In the fifth, it was Noda's turn to go yard, sending an opposite-field drive down the left-field line to put the Lugnuts up 3-2. It was the right fielder's team-leading 18th home run of the season.

But the Hot Rods struck back again, tying the game in the bottom of the fifth against reliever Matt Gunter (Loss, 4-7) on a Gomez RBI groundout before taking a 4-3 lead on a Trey Hair RBI double.

Hair added an RBI single in the seventh, and Taylor Walls doubled in two more runs in the eighth, closing out the scoring.

Bowling Green reliever Kyle Goodbrand (Win, 5-0) served up both Lugnuts home runs but allowed no other damage in 3 1/3 innings. Matt Seelinger (Save, 2) pitched the final two innings, pitching around a pair of walks.

Sellers gave up two runs (one earned) in four innings, walking none and striking out four in a no-decision. Gunter struck out a season-high six batters in four innings of relief, allowing five runs on seven hits and four walks.

In defeat, Noda, Gold and Andres Sotillo each went 2-for-4.

The Lugnuts roll onward to Dayton, Ohio, opening a four-game series with the Dragons at 7:00 p.m. Friday. Left-hander Jordan Barrett (3.73 ERA) heads to the mound against Dayton right-hander Mac Sceroler (6.49).

The Nuts' next home game is an Eat-A-Palooza presented by Gordon Food Service on August 29th beginning at 7:05 p.m. against the Great Lakes Loons. To purchase tickets and live the Lug Life at Cooley Law School Stadium, visit lansinglugnuts.com or call (517) 485-4500.
