Erie's offense then went silent after the first inning. They had the leadoff man in scoring position in the second and fourth innings and the bases loaded with one out in the sixth and could not plate an additional run. The 'Wolves finished the game 1-for-13 with runners in scoring position and were held without a hit from the fifth inning on.

Skubal (2-2) took the loss despite a solid effort. He allowed two runs on three hits with a walk and 11 strikeouts in 5.2 innings. It was the sixth time in eight starts with the SeaWolves that Skubal struck out 10 or more hitters. He tied the franchise record for most 10-strikeout games which was set by Joel Zumaya (2004-05).
