Stewart Homers Twice, Claws Roll to 10-4 Thursday Win

JERSEY SHORE, NJ - DJ Stewart had three hits and two home runs and the BlueClaws rolled to a 10-4 win over Aberdeen on Thursday night at ShoreTown Ballpark.

JERSEY SHORE, NJ - DJ Stewart had three hits and two home runs and the BlueClaws rolled to a 10-4 win over Aberdeen on Thursday night at ShoreTown Ballpark.

Jersey Shore (24-36) and Aberdeen (40-20) have split the first two games in their series.

Stewart's two-home run game was the first of the year by a BlueClaw. They had five last year including four by Jhailyn Ortiz.

The BlueClaws got their first two runs on a home run by Herbert Iser, his first of the season with the BlueClaws. After Aberdeen came back to take the lead, the BlueClaws re-took the lead with three runs in the fourth. Ethan Wilson singled home two to tie the game. Johan Rojas added a SAC fly to put the BlueClaws up 5-4

Jersey Shore added a run in the sixth on a solo home run by DJ Stewart, his fifth of the season.

Then in he sixth, the BlueClaws tacked on three additional runs. Ethan Wilson's SAC fly, his third RBI of the game, made it 7-4. Johan Rojas then walked, stole second, and scored all the way from there on a throwing error by catcher Michael Mantecon.

DJ Stewart added his second home run of the game in the seventh to give the BlueClaws a 10-4 lead.

Christian Hernandez (3-3) earned the win, throwing three innings of scoreless ball behind starter Dominic Pipkin. JP Woodward got two key outs in the sixth, striking out lefties Collin Burns and Colton Cowswer to escape a jam.

Jonathan Hughes got the last nine outs to earn his second save.

The teams continue their series on Friday night at 7:05. RHP Mick Abel starts for the BlueClaws.
