Stott Named Phillies Minor League Hitter of the Month for May

Former BlueClaws and current Reading infielder Bryson Stott, Lehigh Valley left-hander Bailey Falter and Lehigh Valley infielder/outfielder Luke Williams have been named Phillies Minor League Hitter, Pitcher and Defender of the Month, respectively, for May.

Stott, 23, posted a .288/.453/.548 slash line, going 21-for-73 with four doubles, five home runs, 10 RBI, 18 runs scored, 22 walks and three stolen bases in 22 games with High-A Jersey Shore in May. He reached base safely in 21 of those 22 games, including each of his final 13. Additionally, Stott led all High-A East hitters in walks during the season’s opening month. He was recently promoted to Double-A Reading and appeared in his first game with the Fightin Phils on June 1. The Las Vegas, Nev., native was selected by the Phillies in the first round (No. 14 overall) of the 2019 MLB Draft.

The 24-year-old Falter made five starts in May with Triple-A Lehigh Valley and posted a 1.93 ERA (5 ER, 23.1 IP) and 0.99 WHIP (6 BB, 17 H). He struck out 35 of the 91 batters he faced (38.5%) and limited opponents to a .200 batting average. Falter finished fourth in strikeouts among all Triple-A East pitchers during May. Before the minor league season began, the southpaw made his major league debut with the Phillies on April 25 at Colorado, tossing 2.0 innings of relief. The California native was selected by the Phillies in the fifth round of the 2015 MLB Draft.

Williams, who is currently playing for Team USA in the Baseball Americas Olympic Qualifier, did not commit an error in 64 total chances with Lehigh Valley last month. Defensively, he made appearances at second base (12 games/9 starts), third base (3 games/3 starts), shortstop (4 games/3 starts), left field (3 games/2 starts), center field (1 game/1 start) and right field (1 game). The 24-year-old from Illinois was selected by the Phillies in the third round of the 2015 MLB Draft.
