Hartford, Conn- The Binghamton Rumble Ponies battled back from a 3-0 deficit to beat the Yard Goats 5-4 on Friday night at Dunkin’ Donuts Park. The game was played in front of the fifth sellout this season, 6,772. The Rumble Ponies cracked two doubles in the seventh inning, including the go-ahead RBI hit by Luke Ritter helping Binghamton deny Hartford of a fourth consecutive win. The Yard Goats scored a run in the ninth and had a runner at second base when the game ended. The Yard Goats will try and win four of six against the Rumble Ponies with a day game on Sunday.

The Yard Goats scored the first three runs of the game off Binghamton starter and Hanover, Massachusetts native David Griffin in his Double-A debut. Daniel Cope knocked home Brenton Doyle in the second inning for the games first run. Hartford added a pair of runs in the fourth inning on three hits and a walk, highlighted by a run scoring double by Aaron Schunk.

Hartford starter Noah Gotsis pitched well in his Dunkin’ Donuts Park debut. The right-hander hurled four scoreless innings in his second straight start, along with two strikeouts. He left with a 2-0 lead.

Binghamton got a run off reliever Riley Pint in the fifth inning and then rallied to tie the game with two runs in the sixth. The Mets affiliate tied the game when Jeremy Vazquez belted a two-run double off Blair Calvo, scoring Brett Bady and Johneshwy Fargas. The Rumble Ponies took a 4-3 lead on Luke Ritters RBI double in the seventh inning off Jared Biddy, and made it 5-3 on Baty’s infield grounder.

The Yard Goats scored a run in the ninth inning to make it 5-4. Max George led off with the double and scored on an infield single by Ezequiel Tovar. Michel Otanez struck out the final two batters to end the game.

The Yard Goats continue their homestand against the Mets affiliate, the Binghamton Rumble Ponies on Sunday afternoon at 1:05 PM. RHP Mitch Kilkenny will start for the Yard Goats and RHP Jose Butto will start for the Rumble Ponies. The Yard Goats are in a stretch of 12 home games in 13 days with the Red Sox affiliate, the Portland Sea Dogs coming to town for the second part of the homestand next week.
