Reading Program

Each year, along with our partners at Elizabeth River Crossings, the Norfolk Tides are thrilled to promote reading within our community's schools. The goal of the program is to encourage students to read and to understand why reading is so important for their future. Together, Elizabeth River Crossings and the Tides offer incentives to encourage children and their families to participate.

2022 - Reading Program!

We are excited to bring back the Reading is Power Reading Program in 2022! This year the program is offered to elementary-age students on the southside. This program is set up to encourage our local youth to continue to read and promote the importance of literacy. Students are required to read a minimum number of books during their school's chosen month to qualify. Qualifying students will receive a bookmark that gets them a free ticket for May, June, July and August.

For more information or to register your school please email [email protected].

Elizabeth River Crossings (ERC) is committed to connecting our community's youth with impactful educational programs. Through our continued partnership with the Tides this season, we are able to encourage our local students to continue to read and promote the importance of literacy with the Reading Program. This initiative promotes reading and literacy for all ages within our community's schools and offer incentives for students who complete them. We are excited for another year of partnering with the Tides and look forward to seeing the impact!
