Tides pitchers struck out 13, but the offense was limited to two runs as the Gwinnett Stripers used three home runs to power past the Tides 6-2 on Wednesday night at Harbor Park.

Gwinnett homered in the second, third and fourth innings against Hess (2-2), who took the loss despite striking out a season-high eight batters. Johan Camargo had a two-run homer in the third, as Pedro Florimón and Lucas Duda each added solo homers to give the Stripers an early 4-0 lead, accounting for all of the runs Hess surrendered over 4.1 innings pitched. Hess now has a 4.72 ERA in 11 games and four starts for the Tides this season.
Jack Reinheimer cut the deficit to 4-1 with an RBI double in the fifth that scored Zach Vincej, and would later drive in the second Norfolk run with a sacrifice fly in the seventh. That would be all of the scoring the Tides could muster, however, as Gwinnett starter Bryse Wilson (9-7) limited Norfolk to one run on four hits over 6.0 innings in a winning effort.
With his ninth win, Wilson is now tied for the league lead in wins and now ranks second in the International League with a 3.47 ERA.
Three Gwinnett relievers followed Wilson, as Tyler Matzek, Corbin Clouse and Chad Sobotka limited Norfolk hitters to two hits over the final three frames to secure the victory for Gwinnett, who maintain their 1.5-game lead over Charlotte in the IL South division with 12 games remaining.
The two clubs will conclude their four-game set on Thursday afternoon, with first pitch slated for 12:05. Dean Kremer (0-1, 12.46) is set to make his Harbor Park debut and be opposed by right-hander Huascar Ynoa (2-5, 4.87).
Notes: Wednesday was Mason Williams' 28th birthday and he has hit safely in 24 of his last 26 games at Harbor Park…The Tides are 8-3 at Harbor Park in August…Norfolk is 19-19 since the All-Star break…Norfolk batters have the fewest strikeouts than any other IL club (943).
