The story of the game was Norfolk’s eight-run fifth inning, which began with a Ramon Urias solo home run to deep left for his first long ball of the season. It was Urias’ first game back with the Tides after being optioned from Baltimore on Tuesday.
After Zach Jarrett walked and Mason McCoy reached on a fielding error, Austin Hays reached on a fielder’s choice, with both McCoy and Jarrett scoring on a throwing error that followed by Jacksonville first baseman Chris Chinea, who was trying to nab the lead runner Jarrett at home.
Chance Sisco then walked, Tyler Nevin singled and Brett Cumberland drove in Sisco for the fourth Tides run of the inning.
After the RBI single by Cumberland, up came Leyba with the bases loaded and he cleared the bases with one swing, marking the first grand slam for the Tides since Rylan Bannon hit one on 8/29/19 at Gwinnett.

Norfolk would tack on another run thanks to Leyba in the sixth, who drove in Sisco with an RBI single. Leyba finished the day going 2-for-5 with 5 RBI in what was just his second game with the Tides since being claimed off waivers by Baltimore from Arizona on 6/4.
The Tides and Jumbo Shrimp face off again Thursday night, with Spenser Watkins (0-2, 3.15) taking the hill for the Tides and Jordan Holloway (0-0, 3.86) getting the start for Jacksonville. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 from 121 Financial Ballpark.
