(Burlington, VT) - The Norwich Sea Unicorns won their first game in the Futures Collegiate Baseball League (FCBL) Sunday evening with a 6-2 victory on the road against the Vermont Lake Monsters.

Local product Colton Bender (Lebanon, CT/Quinnipiac University) scored three runs, going 1-2 with three walks. Tremayne Cobb (Huntington, MD/UHart), John Chacho (Seymour, CT/SNHU), Thomas Keefe (Weymouth, MA/Pace University), and Noah Budzik (Cromwell, CT/U of New Haven) each drove in a run for the Sea Unicorns. Chacho’s RBI double and Keefe’s RBI single helped break the game open for Norwich in a three-run sixth.

Bryan Albee (Killingly, CT/ECSU) and Connor Davey (Chesire, CT/Rhode Island College) both pitched four innings for Norwich, combining with Tommy Hughes (Newington, CT/SCSU) to strike out 10 Lake Monster batters Davey earned the win with four scoreless innings of relief, fanning four and allowing just one hit.

The Sea Unicorns welcome fans to Dodd Stadium for a Memorial Day home opener against the Brockton Rox at 7:00 pm Monday night, with a post-game Fireworks Show presented by Liberty Bank.
