Balanced Offense Keys Nuts' 6-2 Win
Modesto, CA. - A balanced offensive attack led to a 6-2 Nuts victory over the 66ers on Saturday night at John Thurman Field.
Five different players drove in a run for the Nuts (10-25; 33-72) to back a couple of good pitching performances out of Jordan Lyles and Matt Flemer (W, 9-7).
Lyles started for the Nuts in a big league rehab and tossed 4.2 scoreless innings while striking out four and walking two. Matt Flemer followed and allowed just one earned run to the 66ers on a solo home run by Dennis Raben. Flemer allowed six hits, walked none and struck out four.
On the offensive side, David Dahl clubbed a solo home run in the first inning. Dahl scored after tripling in the fifth thanks to a Pat Valaika RBI single. Dean Espy, Juan Ciriaco and Francisco Sosa all added RBI singles for the Nuts against 66ers' starter Ray Hanson (L, 1-3)
