Ferguson Lifts Two Dingers in 10-5 Season Ending Win

Rancho Cucamonga, CA. -- Three long balls capped the 2016 season with a 10-5 Modesto Nuts' victory over the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes on Monday afternoon at LoanMart Field.

Brandon McCarthy (L, 0-2) made a big league rehab start for the Dodgers with the Quakes (37-32; 80-60) and got roughed up by the Nuts' (34-36; 60-80) bats for ten runs on nine hits over just four innings.

In the first, the Nuts jumped on the board for four runs capped by Collin Ferguson's first home run, a two-run laser to right. Wes Rogers delivered a RBI single in the second. In Ferguson's second at-bat, the lefty smashed a three-run blast off the scoreboard. Shane Hoelscher took flight in the fourth with as two-run shot.

Jack Wynkoop lasted just 1.2 innings and left with the bases loaded in the second. Craig Schlitter struck out Michael Ahmed to avoid any further damage.

Christian Talley (W, 1-1) tossed three shutout innings out of the 'pen. The righty walked three and struck out three while working around two hits.

The Nuts won their final four-game series of the year by winning the final three games against the Quakes. The 2017 season will begin on April 6th in Lake Elsinore.
