Lancaster, CA. - A pair of homers were not enough as the Modesto Nuts lost their second straight game 9-5 against the Lancaster JetHawks on Wednesday night at John Thurman Field.
Joe DeCarlo started the Nuts' (22-18) scoring with a solo home run in the second inning. Chris Mariscal delivered a RBI single and an error added to a three-run second.
That was all the Nuts could get against JetHawks' (22-18) starter Craig Shlitter (W, 6-0). Schiltter worked his seventh straight quality start tossing six innings with just three runs allowed on five hits while striking out three and walking two.
Nine unanswered runs by the JetHawks were the difference in the middle affair of the three-game series. In the fourth, Brian Mundell whacked a two-run double off Nuts' starter Pablo López (L, 2-4). Roberto Ramos tied the game with a RBI double later in the inning.
Lopez was knocked out in the fifth when the JetHawks plated six runs. Lopez went 4 2/3 innings allowing eight runs on eight hits with four strikeouts and three walks.
