Modesto, CA. - Reggie McClain led the Modesto Nuts to an 11-0 blowout of the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes on Thursday night at John Thurman Field.
McClain (W, 10-8) worked seven shutout innings for the Nuts (62-55; 23-24) to put them into a three-way tie for first place. The win secured the Nuts first series victory in a month.
McClain had to strand just a double in the third and a pair of runners in scoring position in the fifth. McClain finished strong striking out four in the final three innings.
Jordan Cowan tripled in the bottom of the first and scored on the first of two RBI by Eric Filia. Arturo Nieto had three hits including a RBI single in the four-run second inning.
Quakes (65-52; 29-18) starter Michael Boyle (L, 4-5) went just three innings and surrendered five runs on five hits.
Logan Taylor added a two-run double in the fourth. Gianfranco Wawoe drove in three with a triple in the seventh.
