Shutout Sends Nuts to 6th Straight Defeat

August 2, 2014

Visalia, CA. - Two RBI singles were enough to send the Nuts to a 2-0 loss against the Rawhide on Friday night at Recreation Park.

In the second inning, Kevin Medrano and Ronnie Freeman each delivered RBI singles off Nuts (10-31; 33-78) starter Tyler Gagnon (L, 0-2). That was all Brandon Sinnery (W, 10-6) needed in his start for the Rawhide (23-18; 59-52)

Sinnery worked six innings and allowed just two singles while striking out six and walking two.

Gagnon was done after three innings, allowing only the two runs while striking three. Meanwhile, the Nuts bullpen was tremendous over the final five innings. Alving Mejias and Shane Broyles were both perfect. Mejias tossed 3.2 innings while striking out five. Shane Broyles finished things off with a perfect 1.1 innings.

Enrique Burgos (S, 24) worked around a walk in a scoreless ninth.

In the third game of a four-game series with the Rawhide, the Nuts will put Devin Burke on the mound. The Rawhide will send Spencer Arroyo to the mound.
