The Ogden Raptors recorded their first shutout of the season in a 3-0 win against the Missoula Osprey Wednesday night at Lindquist Field.
Victor Gonzalez pitched the first five innings to earn his second win of the season. The lefty allowed just four hits and two walks, striking out four.
Gonzalez then turned the ball over to Bernardo Reyes. The reliever went the next three innings, allowing four hits and one walk with a strikeout.
Finally, A.J. Vanegas closed out the game with a perfect ninth inning, striking out two, for his third save.
The Raptors got on the board with a run in the second inning. With one out, Yensys Capellan walked. Two batters later, Kelvin Ramos singled through the left side. Hunter Redman followed with a single to left, scoring Capellan and giving the Raptors a 1-0 lead.
In the sixth, the Raptors added another run. Cody Bellinger walked and moved to second on a wild pitch to start the inning. Justin Chigbogu then grounded out to first to move Bellinger to third base. Capellan drove home Bellinger with a groundout to shortstop to put Ogden ahead 2-0.
The Raptors' final run came in the seventh. With two outs, Devan Ahart doubled to left-center field. Billy Bereszniewicz then hit a triple down the left-field line to score Ahart and extend Ogden's lead to 3-0.
The shutout was the first for the Raptors since July 12 of last year. Francisco Villa, Kyle Hooper and Ricky Perez combined for the shutout against Missoula.
The Raptors and Osprey finish their four-game series Thursday. Abdiel Velasquez will take the mound for Ogden against Missoula's Tyler Bolton. Game starts at 7:00 and can be heard on 97.5 The Zone.
