April 30, 2014

Oklahoma City - The Oklahoma City RedHawks scored runs in the first and ninth innings of a 5-2 loss to the Round Rock Express Wednesday in front of 3,476 at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark.

Half of the RedHawks' eight hits came in the first inning as they quickly cut into Round Rock's early lead, but the Express went on to win their first game of the series.

The RedHawks (15-12) and Express (14-12) combined for eight hits in the first inning, surpassing their combined total hits from the previous night's game (seven).

Round Rock took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning on a RBI single to right field by Brad Snyder and a RBI double to right-center field by Jared Hoying.

Oklahoma City quickly answered in the bottom of the inning. A double by Domingo Santana to left field scored Gregorio Petit, who singled earlier in the inning to cut the Express lead to 2-1.

Santana entered the game hitting .415 through his first 10 home games of the season and finished 1-for-3 Wednesday. Petit has now hit safely in his last 11 games and leads the RedHawks with 33 hits this season.

Round Rock added two runs in the top of the third inning - on a sac fly to center field by Brad Snyder and a RBI single to right field by Hoying - to extend to a 4-1 lead.

Adam Rosales hit a two-out RBI single in the top of the ninth inning for a 5-1 Express lead.

The RedHawks connected on two hits in the bottom of the ninth inning. Max Stassi singled up the middle and Kiké Hernandez followed with a double to center field. Jonathan Meyer next brought Stassi home on a sacrifice fly to right field for Oklahoma City's second run of the night.

Round Rock put together an 11-8 edge in hits. Robbie Grossman led the RedHawks with two hits.

Express pitcher Ryan Feierabend (4-1) held the RedHawks to one run on five hits, walked two and struck out three over 6.0 innings in the win.

Jake Buchanan (1-3) was charged with the loss for Oklahoma City. He allowed four runs (two earned) on seven hits. He did not issue a walk and struck out two.

Oklahoma City takes a 2-1 lead into the series finale at 7:05 p.m. Thursday at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark.
