RedHawks Down New Orleans, 11-1, Saturday

Krauss and Wallace hit home runs in the win

Oklahoma City - Marc Krauss and Brett Wallace each hit home runs in an 11-1 win for the Oklahoma City RedHawks (12-10) against the New Orleans Zephyrs (10-11) Saturday in front of a crowd of 7,979 at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark.

Krauss boosted his team-leading RBI total to 22 with a two-run homer to right center field in the fifth inning. Wallace added a solo shot to left center field in the eighth inning. The home runs ended the RedHawks' stretch of eight consecutive games at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark without a homer, and also helped the RedHawks to back-to-back wins in Oklahoma City for the first time this season.

Krauss, Trevor Crowe and Jonathan Villar led the RedHawks with two hits and two RBI apiece in the third of a four-game series with New Orleans. Andy Simunic also had two hits for Oklahoma City.

Jordan Lyles (2-2) pitched 5.0 innings for the RedHawks, allowing one run and three hits. He walked two and struck out four in the win.

The RedHawks took a 2-0 lead in the third inning before New Orleans scored its lone run of the game in the fourth.

Krauss' team-leading fifth home run of the season came in the fifth inning and boosted the RedHawks to a 4-1 lead.

The RedHawks added to their lead with four runs in the seventh inning. Villar doubled on a fly ball to left field, scoring two runs for the RedHawks. Villar was out at third on the throw. Zephyrs relief pitcher Scott Maine gave up back-to-back bases loaded walks to Crowe and Jake Elmore later in the inning to put the RedHawks ahead, 8-1.

Wallace's home run in the eighth inning gave Oklahoma City a 9-1 edge. Back-to-back RBI singles from Jason Jaramillo and Crowe later in the inning put the RedHawks ahead, 11-1.

New Orleans' pitcher Brian Flynn took the loss in his Triple-A debut. He allowed four runs, five hits, walked two and struck out four in 5.1 innings.

The series with New Orleans concludes for the RedHawks with a 2:05 p.m. game Sunday at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark.
