Game Summary: The Oklahoma City Dodgers scored eight straight runs on the way to an 8-1 series-opening win against the Sugar Land Skeeters in the teams’ first-ever meeting Thursday night at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark. Sugar Land took a 1-0 lead in the first inning before the Dodgers compiled eight runs in the second through sixth innings for their highest run total in a home game this season. Keibert Ruiz and Luke Raley each finished with two hits apiece, including a double, and two RBI to pace OKC’s offense. Carlos Asuaje notched a two-run double in the second inning and Zach Reks also finished with two hits. Los Angeles Dodgers pitchers Tony Gonsolin and Brusdar Graterol each pitched as part of Major League Rehab Assignments as the Dodgers held an opponent to one run for the second time in three games.

Of Note:

-Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Tony Gonsolin made the third start of his Major League Rehab Appearance, pitching 3.2 innings, allowing three hits and one run with two walks and two strikeouts. He threw 60 pitches, including 39 strikes. Gonsolin is currently recovering from right shoulder inflammation. He was placed on the 10-Day IL April 4 and transferred to the 60-day IL May 17. He made five appearances for the Los Angeles Dodgers during Spring Training, but had yet to pitch during the regular season prior to beginning the rehab assignment.

-Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Brusdar Graterol appeared in the second game of his Major League Rehab Assignment, striking out the side in the seventh inning with 17 pitches, including 14 strikes. He was placed on the 10-day IL April 29 with right forearm tightness and had only made three appearances with LAD this season.

-The eight runs scored by the Dodgers Thursday marked a season-high at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark and the sixth time in the last 12 games the Dodgers scored at least eight runs in a game. OKC has now scored at least four runs in eight consecutive games.

-The Dodgers opened a 12-game homestand Thursday, including six games against the Sugar Land Skeeters and six games against the El Paso Chihuahuas. Thursday marked the team’s first win in a series opener this season and snapped a stretch of 10 straight losses in series openers dating back to the 2019 season. Thursday was the team’s first win in a series opener since Aug. 7, 2019 against Tacoma.

-OKC has now won six of the last eight games overall after starting the season 4-13.

-After going 2-for-3 with a double, run and two RBI Thursday, Triple-A West Player of the Week Luke Raley is now 12-for-22 with three doubles, a triple, three homers, 16 RBI and 10 runs scored over his last five starts.

-Triple-A newcomer Sugar Land was previously an independent team and is now the top affiliate of the Houston Astros.
