Game Summary: Rangel Ravelo hit two home runs, including a grand slam, as he racked up a career-high six RBI in the Oklahoma City Dodgers’ 10-1 win against the Sugar Land Skeeters Friday night at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark. The Dodgers (11-15) took a quick lead in the first inning on back-to-back doubles by Zach Reks and Keibert Ruiz. Ruiz then homered into the right field upper deck in the third inning and Ravelo followed with a solo homer of his own out to left field for a 3-0 OKC lead and back-to-back homers for the fifth time this season. Sugar Land (17-8) scored a run in the top of the fourth inning, but OKC answered with five runs in the bottom of the frame. OKC loaded the bases with one out for Reks, who drew a bases-loaded walk. Ravelo then crushed a grand slam out to left field to extend the Dodgers to an 8-1 advantage. A sacrifice fly by Ravelo and a RBI single by Luke Raley pushed the Dodgers’ lead to 10-1 in the sixth inning.

Of Note:

-Keibert Ruiz and Rangel Ravelo hit back-to-back home runs in the third inning Friday night, marking the fifth time this season the Dodgers have connected on back-to-back homers, but it was the first time at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark in 2021.

-Rangel Ravelo’s grand slam in the fourth inning out to left field marked the second grand slam of the season for the OKC Dodgers and Ravelo’s team-leading seventh homer of the season. The MiLB.com Triple-A West Player of the Month extended his hitting streak to a team season-best 10 games, going 2-for-3 with two homers, a sac fly, a walk and a career-high six RBI as the Dodgers’ designated hitter. The multi-homer game was Ravelo’s second of the season. His previous career-high mark for RBI was five last set July 24, 2019 with Triple-A Memphis at Salt Lake. During his current 10-game hitting streak, Ravelo is 19-for-34 (.559) with eight extra-base hits (five homers), 15 RBI and eight walks.

-The OKC Dodgers scored 10 runs Friday, marking the seventh time in the last 13 games they’ve scored at least eight runs, sixth time in 13 games they’ve scored at least 10 runs and the ninth straight game the Dodgers have scored at least four runs. OKC entered Friday’s game leading all of the Minors in runs and hits since May 21.

-The OKC Dodgers took a 2-0 lead in their series with the Skeeters and have now won seven of their last nine games, as well as six of the last seven.

-Keibert Ruiz doubled and homered Friday night, and over his 12 games with OKC this season has 11 extra-base hits, has scored 10 runs and has 10 RBI.

-Zach Reks went 2-for-4 with a double, RBI, walk and scored a team-high three runs Friday as he extended his hitting streak to six games. During the streak, Reks is 11-for-27 with four doubles. Reks’ 22 runs scored this season pace the Dodgers.

-The Dodgers drew 10 walks Friday for their second-highest total of the season (11, May 21 @ ABQ). Entering Friday’s game, OKC had a Triple-A West-leading 58 walks over the previous 12 games.

-Four Dodgers pitchers combined to hold the Skeeters to one run and four hits Friday as the Dodgers held an opponent to one run for the third time in four games. Dodgers starting pitcher Yefry Ramírez allowed one run on two hits over 4.0 innings with one walk and three strikeouts. Relievers Darien Núñez, Andrew Schwaab and Kevin Quackenbush held the Skeeters scoreless and to two hits over the final five innings, issuing a combined one walk with three K’s.
