Dodgers Losing Streak Continues with 12-1 Defeat Thursday

Game Summary: The Round Rock Express scored eight runs in the seventh inning as they sent the Oklahoma City Dodgers to a 12-1 loss Thursday night at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark. The teams played to a 1-1 tie, exchanging sacrifice flies in the third inning. The Express (58-50) took the lead with a sacrifice fly in the fourth inning and added a run on a RBI single by Sam Huff in the fifth inning for a 3-1 advantage. The Express then scored eight runs in the seventh inning on seven hits, including a bases-clearing double by Josh Sale and a two-run homer by Sandro Fabian. The Dodgers (62-46) were held scoreless over the game’s final six innings and were outhit, 15-5, in the game.

Of Note:

-The Dodgers’ losing skid extended to five games, tying their longest losing streak of the season (July 1-5). The Dodgers are now 1-6 in the last seven games…OKC has now lost the first three games of a series for the second time this season and first time since April 12-14 in El Paso…The Dodgers have now lost three straight home games for just the second time this season and first time since May 26-27 against Reno, including a May 26 doubleheader.

-Drew Avans hit his PCL-leading ninth triple of the season in the third inning, recorded two walks and scored a run as he extended his on-base streak to 47 games. He owns the longest active on-base streak in the Minors and the longest on-base streak by an OKC player during the MLBAM era (since 2005). He has reached base in 61 of his last 62 games and his 47-game on-base streak is the longest in the PCL since 2018.

-The eight runs scored by the Express in the eighth inning tied the season-high mark for an OKC opponent and were the most runs scored by an opponent in an inning since July 4 against Las Vegas in OKC. It was the third time in the last four games the Dodgers allowed six or more runs in an inning and the ninth time this season an opponent has scored six or more runs in an inning.

-The 12 runs scored by the Express were the most runs scored by an OKC opponent since Sunday in Salt Lake when the Bees won, 12-1. Sunday’s OKC loss in Salt Lake was also the last time the Dodgers were held to one run in a game before Thursday…The Dodgers have scored 13 runs over the last five games with seven extra-base hits. The team is 4-for-45 with runners in scoring position and has left 46 runners on base during the five-game stretch.

What’s Next: The series between the Dodgers and Express continues at 7:05 p.m. Friday at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark as the Dodgers partner with MidFirst Bank to “Pack the Park Pink.” Dodgers players and coaches will wear special edition pink jerseys and hats that will be auctioned to benefit Susan G. Komen Oklahoma and unique events will take place throughout the night to promote breast cancer awareness. The evening will be capped with a pink fireworks show.
