Chasers Fall Late in Tacoma, 5-3

TACOMA, WA (June 13) - Jack Lopez hit a game-tying home run, but Tacoma rallied to untie the game in the bottom of the 8th, as the Rainiers defeated the Storm Chasers 5-3 on Wednesday night at Cheney Stadium.
Omaha opened the scoring with 2 runs in the top of the 4th. Adalberto Mondesi walked, Jorge Bonifacio singled, and they advanced to 2nd and 3rd on a groundout. Frank Schwindel drove in Mondesi with a sacrifice fly, and Cam Gallagher knocked in Bonifacio with a single, giving the Chasers a 2-0 lead.
Trevor Oaks pitched 5 scoreless innings for Omaha, allowing 5 hits and no walks. He struck out 3.
Tacoma rallied against Eric Stout in the bottom of the 6th. Chris Herrmann was hit by a pitch, John Andreoli walked, Mike Marjama singled (scoring Herrmann), and Andrew Aplin doubled (plating Andreoli). Wily Peralta was summoned to the mound, and Danny Muno drove in the go-ahead run with a sacrifice fly, making it 3-2 Rainiers.
Ross Detwiler worked 6 innings for Tacoma; he held the Chasers to 2 runs on 5 hits, with 2 strikeouts and 2 walks.
Jack Lopez tied the game in the top of the 8th, taking Darrin Gillies (W, 1-0) deep for his 3rd home run of the season. But Tacoma regained the advantage in the bottom half against Peralta (L, 0-1), as Andrew Aplin walked, and Seth Mejias-Breen lined a base hit to right field. Jorge Bonifacio misplayed the ball, and it skipped under his glove and all the way to the wall, allowing Aplin to score, and sending Mejias-Breen to 3rd. Danny Muno followed with an RBI double, putting Tacoma ahead 5-3.
Ryan Garton (S, 2) pitched the 9th for the Rainiers, notching his 2nd save of the season.
The Storm Chasers (29-35) will continue the serise in Tacoma tomorrow night at 9:05 Central. RHP Heath Fillmyer (3-5, 5.87) will toss for Omaha, while Tacoma's starter is to be determined.
