Schwindel clubs team-leading 16th homer, drives in 61st run

Storm Chasers designated hitter Frank Schwindel crushed his team-leading sixteenth home run and second baseman Humberto Arteaga collected three hits, however Round Rock designated hitter Hanser Alberto smashed three hits and drove in three runs to support Express starter Richelson Peña in a 5-2 win over Omaha on Sunday afternoon

Storm Chasers designated hitter Frank Schwindel crushed his team-leading sixteenth home run and second baseman Humberto Arteaga collected three hits, however Round Rock designated hitter Hanser Alberto smashed three hits and drove in three runs to support Express starter Richelson Peña in a 5-2 win over Omaha on Sunday afternoon at Werner Park.

After Round Rock grabbed an early advantage, Storm Chasers LF Donnie Dewees launched a solo homer to right in the third to even the game at 1-1. The Express, however, chugged ahead with a four-run sixth highlighted by Alberto's two-run single to left for a 5-1 lead. Schwindel narrowed that margin to three with his solo blast to left-center in the eighth, however Round Rock reliever Ricardo Rodríguez (1.1 IP, K) shut the door to notched his third save.
Pena (6.1 IP, 5 H, R, ER, 0 BB, 7 K) fired a quality outing to earn his third victory with the Express, while Omaha starter Zach Lovvorn (6.0 IP, 5 H, 5 R, 5 ER, 2 BB, 2 K) suffered the defeat to fall to 1-4. The Storm Chasers bullpen trio of Josh Staumont (1.0 IP, H, BB, 3 K), Jake Newberry (1.0 IP, H, BB, K) and Eric Stout (1.0 IP, H, 2 K) combined for the final three shutout frames.
Round Rock CF Drew Robinson (3-5, R) joined Alberto in recording three knocks. Arteaga's (3-4) three hits paced the Storm Chasers order. Schwindel also drove in his team-best 61st run of the year, ranking him tied for seventh in the Pacific Coast League.
Following Monday's league-wide offday, the Storm Chasers begin a seven-game West Coast road trip on Tuesday evening with a three-game road set in Sacramento. First pitch is scheduled for 9:05 p.m. CT. LHP Jake Kalish (4-4, 3.27) is expected to toe the rubber for Omaha, with the River Cats slated to send RHP Casey Kelly (9-7, 4.95) to the hill.
The Storm Chasers return to Werner Park to start a seven-game homestand on Wednesday, August 1. First pitch against the Las Vegas 51's is set for 7:05pm CT.
