The finalists for the 2018 Rawlings Gold Glove Awards were announced on Thursday, with four players with ties to the Omaha franchise among those competing for those honors. Included in that group are current Kansas City Royals catcher Salvador Perez and outfielder Alex Gordon . That duo alone has garnered a combined nine Gold Glove Awards in their respective careers.

Gordon looks to receive his second straight Gold Glove honor, and sixth overall after receiving the award in 2011-14 and 2017. In 134 games played in the outfield this year, Gordon accumulated a .993 fielding percentage, recording just 2 errors in 292 total chances. He participated in three games with the Storm Chasers in April 2018, compiling a .222 average (2-9) with two runs scored, one double and two RBI. Gordon has been nominated for a Gold Glove Award each season since finalists were named starting in 2011.
Perez, meanwhile, is in the running for his fifth Gold Glove Award after winning the award in four consecutive seasons between 2013-16. Perez was not charged with an error in 96 games behind the plate with Kansas City in 759 total chances. He also matched a single-season career-high by throwing out 48 percent of would-be basestealers. Perez wore a Storm Chasers uniform for four games earlier this year, posting a .333 average (3-9) with one run, one homer and three RBI.
A two-time All-Star, Cain looks to add his first Gold Glove Award to his mantle. Cain accrued a .981 fielding percentage in 138 games played in the outfield, all in center field, this past season while committing six errors in 321 chances. He also recorded 11 outfield assists with the Brewers. Cain last played with Omaha during the 2016 campaign as part of a Major League Rehab Assignment, recording three hits in eight at-bats.
Pina also hopes to earn his first Gold Glove Award this year. He posted a .995 fielding percentage in 92 games as Milwaukee's backstop this past season while throwing out 41 percent of would-be basestealers. Pina played for Omaha during the 2010-11 and 2013 seasons, combining for a .236 average (86-364) along with 46 runs, 20 doubles, nine homers and 43 RBI, along with 43 walks.
Greinke has received Gold Glove Awards in each of his last four seasons dating back to 2014. For the second consecutive campaign he did not commit an error while pitching for the Arizona Diamondbacks. The right-hander made six starts with the Omaha Royals at the age of 20 in 2004, recording a 1-1 mark and 2.51 ERA (8 ER/28.2 IP) with 23 punchouts.
