Later in the inning, following two walks, Nico Hoerner, who made a Major League rehab appearance, drove in a run with a double down the left-field line. Greg Deichmann capped the inning with a two-run single to put Iowa ahead, 5-1.

Bolaños faced three batters in the third before exiting the game, allowing a leadoff walk, a two-run homer to Davis, and a walk to Andrew Romine before right-hander Collin Snider entered in relief. Bolaños allowed seven runs on six hits while issuing four walks with zero strikeouts in his first start since being optioned to Omaha.

Snider issued a leadoff walk in the fourth to Ian Miller, who stole second and later scored on an RBI single by Deichmann. Snider allowed one run on two hits in a season-high 3.0 innings.
