Owlz strike out 13 times in loss

(Missoula) - The Owlz dropped the series finale in Missoula, getting shutout by the Osprey 8-0 on Sunday evening.


John Swanda made the start for the Owlz and kept the Osprey off the scoreboard until the third inning. Missoula opened the scoring in the third inning. The Osprey took the lead on an Owlz error, scoring Brand Leyton and then added to their lead thanks to a Zac Almond RBI double.


The Owlz could not figure out Missoula starter Deyni Olivero who tossed five shutout innings and struck out 10 hitters.


Missoula doubled their lead in the fourth inning when they scored two more runs on a Joe Robbins homer and a Jesus Munoz sacrifice fly.


The Osprey batted eight times in the seventh inning, scoring four runs to extend their lead to 8-0 as the Owlz would strand two runners on base in the ninth, falling in the series finale, 8-0.


Deyni Olivero (4-3) earned the win while John Swanda (0-3) was charged with the loss. The Owlz will begin a four-game series in Helena on Monday night at 7:05 against the Helena Brewers.
