(Orem, UT) - Four Orem Owlz pitchers combined to one-hit the Rocky Mountain Vibes in an Owlz 3-0 win on Friday night at the Home of the Owlz.

Owlz starter Jerryell Rivera threw four shutout innings before the bullpen took care of the rest, holding Rocky Mountain to just one hit in the season opener. Darrien Williams and Jacob Voss each threw two scoreless innings before Dazon Cole retired the Vibes in order in the ninth. The only hit in the game for the Vibes came in the third inning on an Antonio Pinero double.

The Owlz scored all three of their runs off the long ball as both D'Shawn Knowles and Johan Sala homered in the win. The Owlz broke a scoreless tie in the third when D'Shawn Knowles hit a two-run homer to right. Johan Sala added to the Owlz lead by going to the opposite field, sending a solo shot over the right-field wall, extending the Owlz lead to 3-0 in the fourth inning.

The only Owlz hit that didn't leave the ballpark was a Morgan McCullough single in the fourth inning. Rocky Mountain held the Owlz to just three hits as the Owlz left nine runners on base. The Owlz and the Vibes continue the series on Saturday night at 7:05 as Sadrac Franco makes the start for the Owlz against Cam Robinson for Rockie Mountain.

Saturday night is Luau Night at the Home of the Owlz. Enjoy food and drink from the islands. Stick around after the game to enjoy a fire dancers performance on the field. For tickets, visit goowlz.com or call the Owlz at 801-377-2255.
