Despite a late comeback bid, the Orem Owlz couldn't overcome four home runs from the Grand Junction Rockies in a 13-9 loss at the Home of the Owlz.

Torii Hunter Jr. had another banner day at the plate, going 3-5 to pick up his team-leading 25th multi-hit game of the season.

Ramon Marcelino led the way for Grand Junction with a 3-5 day at the plate, featuring two home runs and five runs batted in.

After allowing two runs in the first three innings, Owlz' starter Cole Duensing saw his night unravel in the fourth.

Duensing surrendered a two-run home run to Ramon Marcelino in the third inning, before he allowed five earned runs in the fourth, capped by Ramon Marcelino's second homer of the night, which made the score 7-1 Grand Junction.

Duensing ended up taking the loss for Orem, dropping to 3-5 on the season.

The Owlz didn't go down easily however, as they staged a five-run fifth inning to come within two runs.

Torii Hunter Jr. and Brandon Marsh each had run-scoring hits, before the final three runs in the inning came home on a bases loaded walk issued to Harrison Wenson and a throwing error by Rockies shortstop Kennard McDowell.

That made the score 8-6 Grand Junction, as the Rockies tacked on another solo home run in the top of the inning.

After Orem's center fielder Torii Hunter Jr. collided with the center field wall, Jeff Moberg went motoring around third base with an inside-the-park home run.

It was the first inside-the-park home run given up by the Owlz this year, and it was just the fourth run all season given up by Pioneer League All-Star Isaac Mattson.

Grand Junction went on to put the game out of reach with a four-run eighth inning that began with a leadoff home run for Kennard McDowell--the Rockies' fourth homer of the night.

The Owlz would stage a three-run eighth inning, capped by a two-run single from Torii Hunter, but it wasn't enough to down the Rockies, who won the game by a final score of 13-9.

The loss drops Orem to 48-26-1 this season, having already clinched the best overall record in the Pioneer League.

The Owlz will play their final regular season game of the season on Saturday afternoon, with first pitch scheduled for 1:05 p.m. MT.

Coverage will begin on the Orem Owlz Baseball Network approximately 15 minutes prior to first pitch with the Voice of the Owlz, Steven Cusumano, on the Orem Owlz Baseball Network and MiLB.tv.
