MISSOULA, MONT. - The Pioneer League announced on Monday that Missoula Osprey outfielder Eduardo Diaz was named the league's Player of the Week for the window between July 3-9. The honor is the first such designation for any member of the 2017 Osprey.

In six games, Diaz hit .481 (13-for-27) with two doubles, two home runs, and nine RBI. Diaz collected at least one hit and one RBI in each game that he played in the process of helping the osprey win four of six games. Diaz posted five multi-hit games and three multi-RBI games, elevating his overall batting average to .352 and his RBI total to a team-high 19, which is tied for the fifth-highest mark on the circuit.
Diaz is the first member of the Osprey to earn Player of the Week honors since Paxton De La Garza did so for the week of August 22-28 in 2016. Diaz's recognition also marks the second-earliest in the season that any player in franchise history has been named Player of the Week. Only Danny Pulfer in 2012 (June 25-July 1) did so earlier in a season.
Diaz and the Osprey return to action on Monday night in Helena, concluding a three-game series with the Brewers. The Osprey return to Missoula on July 20 for the first part of a 10-game home stand.
