The Potomac Nationals are thrilled to announce an addition to the recently released 2018 Legends Autograph Series. On Friday, June 15th, former MLB star Jose Canseco will appear at Pfitzner Stadium for a free meet and greet as well as an autograph signing for P-Nats fans!
The addition of Canseco runs the total number of celebrity guests as part of the Legends Autograph Series to nine stars spread over seven dates during the 70-game home campaign.

Canseco will now kick off the Legends Autograph Series on 6/15, as the P-Nats will play host to the Buies Creek Astros (Houston Astros), with first pitch scheduled for 7:05pm.
A 15th round draft pick by the Oakland Athletics in the 1982 MLB Draft, Canseco made his way through the Minor League ranks and debuted for Oakland on September 2nd, 1985. Canseco played for the A's until a trade on 8/31/92.
With Oakland, Canseco became arguably the best player in baseball at that time. In his first full season, 1986, he won the American League Rookie of the Year award. Two years later, the Cuban born outfielder became the first player in MLB history in the 40/40 club, as he hit 42 home and stole 40 bases during the 1988 season. His A's made the World Series that season, but fell to the Los Angeles Dodgers. Canseco earned the American League MVP award for the 1988 season.
Over his 17-year MLB career, Canseco made six All-Star teams, led baseball in home runs twice, won four Silver Slugger awards, and earned both the ROY and MVP.
After his initial tenure with the A's, Canseco played for the Texas Rangers (1992-1994), the Boston Red Sox (1995-1996), the A's again (1997), the Toronto Blue Jays (1998), the Tampa Bay Devil Rays (1999-2000), the New York Yankees (2000), and he wrapped up his MLB career with the Chicago White Sox (2001). He hit 462 career home runs, currently tied for the 35th most in MLB history. He was the first player to hit at least 30 home runs for four different clubs, and he has the fifth highest home run rate (40 HR/162 G) in Major League history.
Canseco will have a chance to throw out a first pitch at the 6/15 game, while he will meet fans and sign autographs in the concourse at Pfitzner Stadium at various points during his visit as part of the Legends Autograph Series.
In addition to Canseco's appearance at the June 15th game, it will also be a celebration of the 30th anniversary of Jurassic Park, where the P-Nats will wear custom Jurassic Park theme jerseys. It is the second "Fireworks Friday" of the season with post-game fireworks, as well as the final reading program day of the 2018 season.
First pitch for the 6/15 game is scheduled for 7:05pm, while gates are set to open at 6:05pm.
The 2018 Potomac Nationals season gets underway on April 5th at Pfitzner Stadium against the Wilmington Blue Rocks (Kansas City Royals). First pitch for the opener is set for 7:05pm.
