June 27, 2013

Woodbridge, VA-Tonight's Game Four finale between the visiting Myrtle Beach Pelicans and hosting Potomac Nationals at Pfitzner Stadium was suspended in the bottom of the 3rd inning with the score 1-0 in favor of the Pelicans due to heavy rainfall and ensuing wet grounds caused by a thunderstorm.

The playing field at The Pfitz was deemed unplayable after a 30 minute rain delay that begin at 7:52pm. Play was halted 47 minutes into this evening's ballgame.

Myrtle Beach scored their first run in the top of the 2nd inning as Pelicans C Kellin Deglan, who singled to get aboard, came in to touch home plate on a wild pitch by Potomac RHP Ivan Pineyro

When play was suspended, the P-Nats were threatening with runners at first and second base in the last of the 3rd frame with no outs and no count on RF Caleb Ramsey who was entering the lefty batter's box when the clouds released torrential rainfall.

The suspended game will be completed on Thursday, August 1st as a 5:30pm first pitch will usher in a makeshift doubleheader. Gates to Pfitzner Stadium will open at 4:30pm. First, the suspended game will be picked up where it left off then a seven-inning nightcap will complete the evening of bonus baseball. The regularly scheduled start time for the 8/1 game was 7:05pm.
