P-Nats Owner to Unveil New Stadium Renderings at Hot Stove Banquet & Silent Auction

Evening of Nats Baseball talk, silent auction items, great food, and camaraderie with P-Nats faithful
December 12, 2012
Woodbridge, VA-The Potomac Nationals are delighted to announce their 18th Annual Hot Stove Banquet and Silent Auction, an off-season hallmark of the Potomac Baseball franchise, will return to the Hyatt Fairfax at Fair Lakes on Sunday, January 20th. Indulge in an evening of Nationals Baseball talk, an exquisite silent auction, delicious food, and fellowship with the P-Nats faithful as the countdown begins for Major League Baseball Spring Training and Opening Day 2013.

The hot stove banquet will include an open cocktail hour from 5:30pm to 6:30pm amidst a silent sports memorabilia auction to benefit S.P.A.R.K (Supporting Partnerships and Resources for Kids), the Education Foundation for Prince William County Public Schools, that will continue until 7:45pm. A plated dinner and the full program will run from 6:30pm through approximately 8:00pm.

"We're extremely excited to raise money for SPARK through our hot stove silent auction. We value our relationship with Prince William County Public Schools in hosting our Annual Middle School Science Day," says Potomac Nationals Vice President/General Manager, Josh Olerud.

The Nationals will be announcing the 2012 Potomac Nationals Player of the Year, Fan of the Year, and Employee of the Year, in addition to Prince William County's Softball and Baseball Players of the Year during the program.

Potomac Nationals Owner and Chairman/CEO, Art Silber, will be addressing the hot stove ballroom to provide more details about the P-Nats' new stadium project planned for the 2015 season to be located in the Potomac Town Center in Prince William County, Virginia.

Silber will unveil the most updated renderings of the proposed state-of-the-art ballpark and also take guests of the banquet on a visual tour of the new stadium home of the Potomac Nationals.

Silber plans to elaborate upon the many unique hallmarks that will be featured within the landscape of the P-Nats' new ballpark, including staples that will pay homage to Griffith Stadium, former home of the Washington Senators.

"We're going to take the opportunity at our annual Hot Stove Banquet for the first time, to publicly show the detailed renderings of our new Potomac Town Center ballpark. The ballpark is incredibly exciting and its design and features will make it the finest sports venue in the greater Washington area," explains Silber.

"Our stadium will have features that will remind fans of old Griffith Stadium. It will have three decks with a huge wraparound party deck on top with views of the Potomac River, as well as Club and suite levels. The Club will be a great year-round sports bar with views of the ballpark, river, and the Potomac Town Center."

"We'll have a crab shack in center field for steamed crabs and a beer garden, broad plazas, playground for the kids, and the most comfortable seats you'll ever sit in with perfect sight lines."

Serving as the event's keynote speaker, Washington Nationals radio and television broadcaster, Phil Wood, will entertain the ballroom with his comprehensive insight on Nationals Baseball.

Wood, a native Washingtonian, is a longtime sportscasting contributor in both the Baltimore and Washington, DC markets, hosting various radio sports talk shows. Known as a regional baseball aficionado, Wood has also spent on air time with the Washington Bullets (NBA), Washington Capitals (NHL), Baltimore Ravens (NFL), and Baltimore Orioles, in addition to his Nationals duties.

Currently, Wood serves as a TV host for Nats Xtra and anchor on Nats Talk with Mike Wallace on MASN, and voices the post-game radio drive show, Nationals Talk Live on the Nationals Radio Network. Wood's honors include winner of the NSSA Maryland Sportscaster of the Year Award, a Best of Baltimore Award from Baltimore Magazine, and a Best of Washington Award from the Washington City Paper. Wood graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in Fairfax County, VA, and earned his B.S. degree in History and English at Austin Peay State University.

Additional Washington Nationals representatives will also be on hand to discuss the State of the Nats.

The Nationals will unveil a wide-ranging silent auction that includes sports memorabilia and prominent items from the Washington Nationals, teams throughout the MLB landscape, and various Minor League Baseball organizations, as well as other Major League sports. Weekend getaway packages will also highlight the auction lineup. All proceeds from the sports auction will be donated to SPARK.
