Uncle Slam is Back and Better Than Ever!

Revamped Slam was Unveiled Saturday and Met with Customers at Wegmans in Stonebridge at Potomac Town Center
February 18, 2013

Woodbridge, VA---Following a 2012 season in which Uncle Slam, the official mascot of the Potomac Nationals, was injured during a front office fire in late June, the renewed Slam was unveiled to the public Saturday at Wegmans in Stonebridge at Potomac Town Center.

The revamped Uncle Slam was introduced to the P-Nats' faithful at this special event which featured Slam interacting with Nationals fans, taking pictures, signing autographs, and flaunting his new look to Wegmans customers up and down the aisles.

Uncle Slam was so excited to usher in the 2013 season he even went outside to wave at vehicles passing by, while helping customers with their groceries.

Children enjoyed a coloring station set up to the backdrop of balloons that included an outline of the brand new Uncle Slam version 2013. Young ones were able to sign up for Uncle Slam's Kids Club and receive a courtesy Uncle Slam Piggy Bank presented by: TD Bank.

P-Nats staff members blanketed the Wegmans shopping store with 2013 pocket schedules, season ticket and mini plan information, and answered questions about Uncle Slam's off-season progress, the upcoming '13 P-Nats promotional schedule, and the new stadium project slated for the 2015 campaign.

"We received an unbelievable response from the fans who attended the unveil of Uncle Slam. It was a great time for all on Saturday and Wegmans did a terrific job of hosting us. Slam can't wait for Opening Night to get here!" said Potomac Nationals Vice President/General Manager, Josh Olerud.
