Washington Capitals Great, Peter Bondra, to Appear at Pfitzner Stadium for Hockey Night on Friday, August 23rd

National Hockey League Legend to Sign Autographs and Pose for Photographs with P-Nats Faithful

Woodbridge, VA-The Potomac Nationals will host Washington Capitals great, Peter Bondra at Pfitzner Stadium on Friday, August 23rd during Hockey Night as the Nationals take on the Winston-Salem Dash (Chicago White Sox) at 7:05pm. Gates to The Pfitz will open at 6:00pm and Mr. Bondra will begin signing autographs and posing for photographs with P-Nats fans at approximately 6:15pm on the stadium concourse.

Hockey fans are encouraged to wear their Washington Capitals sweaters for this festive evening of hockey appreciation.

Autographs from Peter Bondra will be limited to one signature per person with the purchase of a game ticket to see the Nationals take on the Dash.

Bondra will take a short break to throw out the ceremonial first pitch of the game around 6:50pm and will return to sign items for the P-Nats faithful.

A National Hockey League legend and local fan favorite, Peter Bondra starred for the Washington Capitals at the right wing position from the 1990-1991 season through the 2003-2004 campaign amidst a 17-year NHL career after being drafted by Washington as the 156th overall selection in the 1990 NHL Draft.

Bondra, a Slovakian native, was a five-time NHL All-Star and in 2006 became the 37th player in NHL history to score 500 goals. In 14 years with the Capitals, Bondra scored 472 goals and stashed 353 assists in 961 games. Known as one of the top goal scoring assassins during his time on the ice in the NHL, Bondra holds Caps team records in goals, points (825), power-play goals (137), game-winning goals (73), short-handed goals (32), and hat tricks (19).

In 1997 and 1999 Bondra won the NHL's Fastest Skater Competition on the league's All-Star Weekend.     

On the international circuit, Bondra led the Slovakian National Team to a gold medal at the 2002 Ice Hockey World Championship and took home a bronze medallion in the 2003 World Championship. Overall, Bondra netted 35 goals in 47 international contests for Slovakia.

Bondra retired from the NHL on October 29, 2007 at the age of 39 and resides in nearby Riva, Maryland.
