The Palm Beach Cardinals offense and defense had an extra hour and 14 minutes to prepare after a rain delay, however that was not enough in an eventual 2-1 loss to Lakeland.
Lakeland got on the board in the second inning on a Zach Shepherd RBI double. It would be the only earned run Cardinals' starter Jake Walsh would allow.
Lakeland would tack on its second and final run in the sixth after the Cardinals defense committed two errors.
That would be Walsh's sixth and final inning on the mound. He struck out six batters and allowed five hits without issuing a free pass.
Stefan Trosclair hit an RBI double in the home half of the sixth, putting the Cardinals on the board and cutting the deficit to just one run.
Palm Beach loaded the bases in the bottom half of the seventh, however Ryan McCarvel struck out to end the inning and any chance at a Cardinals comeback.
Colton Thomson threw 1 ⅔ scoreless innings out of the bullpen and was relieved by Bryan Dobzanski who finished the final 1 ⅓ innings without allowing a run.
At the plate, Kramer Robertson and Stefan Trosclair both had two hits and a walk. Dylan Carlson reached base twice.
With the series tied at one, the teams will play game three of a four game series on Saturday at 5:30 PM. For tickets and more information, head over to Rogerdeanchevroletstadium.com/tickets-events
