Palm Beach Sweeps Weekly FSL Honors

JUPITER, FL- The Florida State League has announced that Ryan Sherriff and Jonathan Rodriguez have earned Pitcher and Player of the Week Awards for the period of July 29th - August 4th.

On August 3rd, Ryan Sherriff orchestrated a complete game (9 inning), 1-hit shutout against the Dunedin Blue Jays. The outing marked the first 9-inning complete game for a Palm Beach starter this season. Sherriff became only the 4th FSL pitcher to allow 1 or less hits in a complete game effort this year. The left-hander walked only one while striking out three in the contest. Sherriff is currently in his third year of professional baseball and resides in Culver City, CA. He is the first Palm Beach pitcher to earn the accolade this year.

Jonathan Rodriguez capped off an impressive month of July by continuing his hitting onslaught into the first week of August . During the period (July 29th-Aug. 4th), Rodriguez played in 7 games (all on the road) where he tallied 12 hits in 26 plate appearances for a .426 batting average. He collected 9 RBI on 3 doubles (31) and 3 home runs (13) throughout the week. Out of the 7 games, Rodriguez produced 5 multi-hit outings. The San Juan, Puerto Rico native was recently awarded the St. Louis Cardinals Minor League Player of the Month award for July. He is currently in his fifth year of professional baseball.
