Wick, Bean, and Gomber Tabbed as South All Stars

  The Florida State League Office has announced three Palm Beach Cardinals to be members of the South Division All Star Team. Rowan Wick was voted in as one of the relief pitchers, Austin Gomber was voted as one of the starting pitchers, and Steve Bean was tabbed as a catcher.

                Rowan Wick has been one of the most dominant relief pitchers in the Florida State League this season and has been the Cardinals go to closer since Kevin Herget got called up to AA. He currently has a 1.25 ERA as he has tossed 21.2 innings, gave up 16 hits, and only three earned runs. Wick has also recorded 35 strike outs to only six walks in the 21.2 innings. He has recorded four saves since taking over the closer role, and prior to becoming the closer Wick led the team in holds at five on the season.

                Austin Gomber has had one of the most consistent seasons on the mound among the starters on the team. Gomber has compiled a 4-4 record with a 3.12 ERA on the season. He has thrown 60.2 innings on the season, giving up 55 hits, 24 runs (21 earned), while striking out 49 batters and walking 16. Opponents are only hitting .244 off of him this season.

                Steve Bean rounds out the all-stars as one of the division catchers on the roster. He is hitting .173 on the season, with 2 doubles, 1 home run and 9 RBI. He has caught 12 of the 29 base runners that have tried to steal on him this year as well.

                The All Star game will be held in Fort Myers on June 18th at 7:05 PM.
